Berlin takes down Hanover WildOn January 24th the Berlin Sabre Bantams hosted the Hanover Wild at the Notre Dame Arena. Berlin’s hard work in this game paid off and they came out on top with a 5-1 win. Connor Jewett started things off scoring two goals in the first period to give Berlin a 2-0 lead. He was set up by Jeff O’Neil then Cody Fauteux. Berlin exchanged goals with Hanover in the second period to make it 3-1 after two periods. Berlin’s goal was a powerplay tally scored by Brad Frenette assisted by O’Neil and Mike Lemoine. Shane Mailhot shut out Hanover in the third period and Berlin got insurance goals by Brandon Poulin, set up by Frenette and Jewett, and Coulton Williams who was found open in front by Chris Hastings. The key to Berlin’s victory was solid defensive play by O’Neil, Fauteux, Trevor Leborgne and Blake Leborgne. They were backboned by Mailhot in goal and helped out by the hard back checking of Williams, Hastings, Lemoine, Poulin, Frenette, and Jewett.
