BERLIN MITES SCORE A WINNING WEEKEND Keene/Dover On Saturday January 23th the Berlin Mites traveled to Keene to take on the Cobras in their second game against them this season.
The rivals got on the board first only 17 sec into the first period. That didn’t keep Berlin back for long however. Four minutes and 49 seconds into the period center Andrew Martel scored first for Berlin, assisted by defensemen Austin Scarinza. Though out shot by the opposition, the first period ended tied at 1:1. Berlin goal tender Kurtis Grover had 7 saves.
The second period gave way to much back and forth action on the ice including strong offensive work from Trinity Gendron, Cameron Reardon, and Cael Jewett. The third goal of the game and only goal of the period came 10 minutes and 38 seconds into the period shot by Berlin’s forward Rickey Lambert, assisted by Cameron Delisle putting Berlin in a 2:1 lead. Grover made 5 saves this period.
In the third period the determined Sabres kept up the momentum keeping Keene off the scoreboard. At 2 minutes and 12 seconds into the period Berlin’s center Cameron Delisle scored the fourth goal of the game assisted by defenseman Tyler Rousseau leading Berlin 3:1. Keene was unable to get past the persistent work of our defensive team, including Dominick Paradis making it a win for Berlin. Kurtis Grover had 17 saves for the game.
The next day Berlin played home against the Dover Stars. Berlin’s Cameron Delisle started the scoring first with a goal set up by Griffin Melanson and Tyler Rousseau at 1 minutes and 51 seconds into the period. It didn’t take long for Cameron Delisle to find the back of the net again leading Berlin 2:0 with the help of Griffin Melanson and Dominick Paradis. Dover fought back though with only 22 seconds left on the clock closing the first period 2:1. Berlin’s goal tender Kurtis Grover had 7 saves this period.
In the second period Dover out shot Berlin however the Sabres were the only ones to get onto the scoreboard. At 7 minutes and 3 seconds into the period forward Rickey Lambert scored with the help of Cameron Reardon and Tyler Rousseau bringing Berlin to a 3:1 lead. The final score of the period and game came in with just 32 seconds on the clock by Tyler Rousseau with teammates Trinity Gendron and Cameron Reardon earning the assists. Grover stopped all 15 shots from the opposition.
The third period began with Berlin in the lead 4:1. Though the scoreboard remained unchanged the game remained exciting with the continued hard work from Berlin’s offense/defense John Boucher, Dustin Rainville, Austin Scarinza, Andrew Martel and Cael Jewett. Though Dover fought hard at the net, they were not strong enough to get past Kurtis Grover as he saved all 17 shots. Berlin took the win with Grover having 39 saves for the game.
The Berlin Mites play home again this Saturday January 30th against the NH Avalanche at 11:30.
