BERLIN SQUIRTS START YEAR OFF WITH A LOSS
1/03/2010- The Berlin squirts traveled down to Rochester in a snowstorm to go up against The Blackhawks. The fun started only 3 minutes and 33 seconds into the game with Cameron Cochran playing defense handled the puck from one net to another, scoring the goal unassisted. Continuing with period one, the Berlin sabres played mostly short handed due to penalties of high-sticking, interference and roughing, giving the Blackhawks an opportunity to get on the board with only 1 minute left of play. Second period started off with back to back plays with Trent Labrecque protecting the net for the Berlin Sabres. Tense exchanges in front of both nets led to the Blackhawks digging deep putting one past Berlin defense with just minutes left to the second period. At the line Berlin Squirts came out winded allowing Rochester to score 1 more time in the second… After resting, the third period started off quickly with Berlin Sabres #17, Cameron Cochran finding the angle passed the opponent’s goalie with help from Owen Dorval. Unfortunately, that will be the last score for the Sabres, however Rochester Blackhawks was able to find the net 2 times in the third period for a final score of 5 to 2.
